Imagine, the best meal of your life, you remember the taste, the texture, the smell and the joy it brings. Now open your eyes it is not a dream, but the magical flavors that are coming alive in your mouth are GLUTEN AND DAIRY FREE. And I am in Mexico!
Traveling on a good day, I am lucky to find maybe one gluten free, organic solution, but usually it becomes a nightmare and I wished I stayed home. After an extensive search, I was able to source La Esperanza as a food option for my family.
Upon speaking to Lucy, the chef, a lovely Australian woman, she was able to work with my family to help us adhere to our gluten free/dairy/organic needs. Leading up to our visit, she studied our diet, and even created recipes on our behalf. We decided to take a chance and opted to have her hand prepare all of our meals for the trip and deliver to the hotel. We usually opt to go to a house and prepare are meals, but her menu sounded amazing.
Our adventure began with the most amazing raw truffle bites, to homemade decadent coconut flour cookies made with honey to smoothies and juice to die for! I felt like I was at an exclusive spa with my own culinary team. Twice a day her deliveries were more and more gorgeous, from lamb stew, curry chicken, fresh pumpkin mash and the list goes on.
Lucy also has a restaurant in town, which unfortunately we had no time to visit, but honestly we got used to being spoiled by catered meals. Next time I come back, I plan to get a large house with a few families and have Lucy take over the meals and cater our family reunion.
Without a doubt, Lucy could be considered one of the best gluten free baker/chef that I have ever encountered. Best of all she is all about sustainable foods, organic and going the extra mile to make sure each and every morsel is made with love.

Fabulous dinner in a very comfy & cool spot. It's obvious they care a lot about the food being served. Our meals were cooked to perfection and were made with wonderful, high quality ingredients. Not just for veggies, they have meat & fish dishes. Try the ginger soy fish stirfry - it's a delicious & hearty portion loaded with crisp veggies. And they have a great beer selection - featuring Mexican micro brews! These people know their stuff.

Now with espresso so no need to stop at el Fortin first. Although that is a treat too. Healthy, organic and delicious breakfasts, bathed in interesting sauces.

Truly amazing in every way. Generous portions, beautifully crafted juices, smoothies, salads, breakfast and vegetarian dishes as well as slow cooked carne tacos. Lucy and Jose are gracious hosts with big hearts and passionate souls. Definitely check out their stand at the seasonal farmers market as well.

Just one block off the town square, La Esperanza is one of my new favorite restaurants in Sayulita. We've been coming here since 2006 and were thrilled to see a healthy restaurant option. We started off our meal with the Pineapple Basil Margaritas - fantastic! My husband had the beef stir-fry and I had the ginger-sesame stir-fry with mahi-mahi - both were outstanding. I loved the basil pesto that was served on the side. We ended our meal with the Chocolate Avocado Mousse. The service was perfect and the owner stopped by our table to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. We will be back next year. This is a don't miss restaurant!

Incredible flavor extravaganza! Husband and I enjoyed dinner. So many spices in one meal. I felt nourished and content from the nutrient dense food. I was full quickly and brought food home. The atmosphere is romantic. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We will be going back for lunch.

This place was unreal and amazing. The food was thoughtful, unique and extremely delicious. The Juices and Smoothies were rich and inventive and our breakfast was top-notch.
Traveling with children can be difficult, but somehow we stumbled upon this gem...each table has games or blocks or toys.
This is the kind of place I tell people about when I travel. I'm hoping the business owner will consider staying in Sayulita, rumor has it that the building owner will not renew the lease in May. It would be a shame. Travelers like me absolutely seek out establishments like this one. Stay in Sayulita!

Im not sure why they market themselves as vegetarian because they have meat offerings. The food is great and the menu changes often. Great craft beer selection as well as artesanal mezcals and raicillas. I've been more than once and had a great meal everytime.
